Thursday, July 29, 2004Linky According to recent conversations we've had with Valve's Doug Lombardi, Half-Life 2 will be passed on to publisher Vivendi for final mastering and duplication within days for it's early August target. The official appearance will make store shelves sometime in mid to late September.

The beta will first be open to subscribers of the Valve Cyber Café Program, and then extended to owners of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. The next installment of the world's number 1 online action game, Counter-Strike: Source blends CS's intense teamplay with the advanced technology of Valve's Source engine.

Half Life 2! Expected Late August
Monday, July 5, 2004Linky Found Some info I thought some cs people might like!
*A Half-Life 2 SDK (Software Development Kit) for mod developers will be released prior to the game hitting store shelves.
*Like the original Half-Life, Valve currently has no plans for a pre-release demo (Half-Life: Day One wasn't an official demo).
*An Xbox port is supposedly in the works, but it isn't expected to ship simultaneously with the PC version. There were rumors of a PS2 port, but those have now been confirmed as false.
*Barney is back, and all the voice actors from the original Half-Life are reprising their roles. Also returning is Half-Life's original writer, Marc Laidlaw.
*While the new engine has all sorts of fancy features, it's still designed to scale and work on lower-end machines. Apparently a 700mhz processor and a video card capable of running DX6 is enough, although a 2ghz with a GeForce4 is recommended. Rumors about NVidia or ATI exclusivity are unfounded.
*Alyx is not a playable character. You're still Gordon Freeman, and Gordon doesn't talk. Nor will there be cut scenes. Scripted Sequences will be more interactive.
*ALL objects in the game world are affected by the physics.
*Movement speed of HL will be retained.
*There will be drivable vehicles in both single and multiplayer.
*Known locations: City 17, a harbor, a jail, the suburbs, a dried up ocean, an icebreaker ship.
* An upgraded Hammer editor should ship with the game, but instead of just editing maps it's now described as a "complete development environment" for maps, mods, and more.
*Valve is apparently already working on a Half-Life 2 expansion pack.
*Half-Life 3 is planned, so expect another cliffhanger ending.

Wednesday, January 22, 2003Linky Well, As you all know It's out..And...for those of you who already have it, it's not that Different besides these WICKED cool Shields, that blocks an awp.. And other guns etc..and 2 new Rifles for each team, Famas (ct) Gamli (t) There both the same gun really. But The only problum, is you can't get the Shield on t, i think they should give a t some sort of shield thing..like a Block of C4 ;p.. here's one spot to Download it from (Direct Link) That's Steam, it...sucks...Crashes 30-40 tiems before it works, slow as hell..and..did i say it sucks yet?..It will be some time before Steam let's you into any sort of CS 1.6 beta server, but once you do...it's just about worth it...to see an awper get all hissy about your shield..buahaha, here's another link, just incase.. Mirror's There's a Few mirrors on that site Good luck all, btw..Steam...it will eventually work...

Tuesday, January 14, 2003chip Woot I beat Masked guys in posting this: Valve’s Doug Lombardi sent out an email that announces the public beta release of CS 1.6 and the newest version of TFC. Coming this Thursday everyone on Steam will have access to the 1.6 files. Get ready! So does anyone know when Counter-Strike will be finalized? I guess when you have rougly 80k players online at any given time you probably need to keep it fresh no matter what the age, eh?

Valve Software today quietly released beta Counter-Strike dedicated server software for Linux and Windows (Linux v3.1.1.0c beta & for Windows v4.1.1.0c beta). The new beta server software fixes issues with flashbang grenades, and adds all the changes from previous releases. You can grab the new releases from FilePlanet now:

I'd also like to wish OU luck at this years BCS Rose Bowl, and to OSU, while not playing in a BCS bowl, are in the Huston Bowl this year. Its in Huston, at the same stadium where OU won the Big 12 chapionship last weekend.
