Hail, Clan Beowulf :)
Hello, SilverWolf here, (some of you may remember me as KatZ, during the brief time I ran with BW, introduced by my father, StolnPrayr.) It was brought to my attention tonight that Beowulf was looking into passing the torch, so to speak, to the next generation, and I wanted to put in my two cents.
I recieved a phone call a few hours ago from my dad and he read me a post from the members section, adding that me getting involved would be a good idea. I currently run a gaming clan with a few people, called WolfPack, that has active members, but we are still looking for a place to land, so to speak. After talking with the other leaders of WP, we decided to shoot out the idea of merging WP with BW, under the name of Clan Beowulf.
The idea of becoming part of a clan with such background, and the experience of its members sounds phenomenal. Also, like Stoln, I would hate to see BW die out and would like to do what I can to keep this legendary clan alive and kickin'.
I will be giving the link to the forum to the other three leaders so they can be part of the discussion aswell in the near future, but I would like to hear your thoughts on the idea first. So please, get back to me either here on the forum or via email at Fire_KatZ@hotmail.com. Thank you for your time and consideration of the idea.
Happy gaming!

Oh and forgot to add...
...I also have another clan, that's been an ally to WolfPack for a little while now that is interested in merging under BW with us..
As for WP...the wolves have started waking up and coming out of wood works to see whats going to happen. We are all anxious to hear a response from you.
I also forgot to add that if you would like to check us out, we have a forum on proboards that you can come look at and see what we are about..I'll post the link at the end of this post
Thank you again and happy gaming

Hey hey... we've getting somewhere now. My son doesn't really have a steady clan. He plays CoD:MW2 on Xbox Live under [WWJD]SuperEliteman55. Believe it or not, he doesn't really understand what Clan Beowulf is all about. He doesn't get the history. He and his friends are more into blowing half their lives playing video games than contributing to a blog.
I'm trying to get him interested in computer graphics/programming, but so far the best I've done is getting him interested in PowerPoint. Well, it's a start.
Keep in mind Clan Beowulf can be an open canvas. We own the web server and can put anything we want on it. It's running phpNuke right now, but of course that could change to whatever.

Even I don't Fully grasp the history of BW..What I know and understand comes from the distant memory I have of BW(not too distant for some people, considering it was 5 years or so ago, but it's a distant memory for me) and what my dad has told me.
I was talking with the leader(T3k) of the other clan that is going to be merging into WP within the next few days about branching off into xbox360 since he spends the majority of the time he spends on gaming there and he thought it would be a neat idea. Maybe you should see if your son would like to work with him on that?
Basically how WP operates now is with 4 joint leaders(elders), and 2 advisors, which are a step down from the elders (these numbers would increase as the clan increased but we haven't gotten enough members to the point where we find 6 people to not be enough.) When LAH(the other clan) merges with WP, the number of elders will change to 5 and I'm still unsure what would happen with the Advisors (haven't quite gotten that far, ha ha.) Here's my idea that sort of popped into my head as I was reading through your post.
Since keeping the integrity of BW is pretty high on my list and I don't fully grasp what BW is all about, I'm thinking that keeping a joint leadership going would be ideal. You know, have a couple members from BW up in the elder positions that act as sort of guides that..well...guide the younger generation and teach them what BW is all about. That way, you expand to the next generation, without losing the integrity and meaning of Clan Beowulf. Also, having your son get involved in this "guided" atmosphere could help him understand what BW is all about aswell.
As for graphic designing, I got hooked on it back with the Q3 skins and trying to make my own, so if you haven't already, get him into Q3, show him the custom skins, and then show him how to do his own. Maybe it'll spark in him like it did in me and next thing you know, he's designing with 3D stuff (which is really cool to mess with, lol.) Programming is something I would like to look into, but I think I need to take a class up at the college to get started, because honestly, I haven't the slightest clue where to start. One of the advisors starts talking about his programming stuff and my head starts swimming lol.
But anyway, there's a couple things that popped into my head while reading your post. I'm going to give the link to BW to the leaders of WP and the advisors so that they can drop in their cents about it, since everything usually works perfectly in my head, but not so much when it is actually applied to a situation. (Funny how that usually happens, huh?) So you will most likely be hearing from them aswell.
Hope to hear from you again soon
Wow, glad to hear you did some Quake3 skinning. You probably know my icon is a picture of my Quake3 character that has my actual face on it. I remember when I showed my wife, it freaked her out. She was horrified to see me die in Quake3 over and over again. The character resembles me that much.
I'll talk to my son about the clans and Beowulf. Sadly, I have the Beowulf movie on DVD and have never watched it. I bought it the day it came out on DVD. It's never appealed to the wife or kids so it got voted out as the movie to watch on family movie night.

Yeah, i had thought my skin was so absolutely awesome when i was about 12 or 13...i looked at it the other day and man....it was awful LOL so i think im gonna work on a new skin because i have a couple friends that i got hooked on q3 (played with them and dad last night in OSP..railguns & instagib with an old pro, his daughter, and a bunch of newbies that got the hang of the game pretty quickly was pretty intense...and funny to hear the strings of swear words when they died lol) I think we are gonna play sometime tomorrow night but I'm not sure...its hard to plan things with these guys because they get distracted so easily lol
Alright cool, and sorry you haven't seen the movie yet...its pretty cool

I like the idea of a younger generation, taking the reins and moving Beowulf forward. I’ve always been of the mind that the clan should move forward, of course there has been a lot of discussion on that direction. I like the idea of someone who wasn’t part of the ideological split that happened about 8 or 9 years ago, in the driver’s seat of Beowulf. The integrity of the clan, you know keeping things honorable is what matters most about carrying the name forward. I’d love if darkone_ would come in and write up a big official history of the clan, as he probably knows more about it then most. He was around 4 or 5 years before I even joined, I’ve considered myself part of the clan for over 10 years now. If you want advice on history, or how to run a clan, I’d go to Darkone, lupus, Chip, or Garg, Buddy J, or myself We’d all give you a different perspective, and you guys as a whole could decided what you want to take into the future. I don’t know of any clans older than Beowulf, or a clan that has such a rich history. I’d love for new chapters in the clan to be written, paying respect to what has come before, but not necessarily trying to copy it, letting the clan move on and grow. That was what Masked wanted to do, its why we decided to be a part of Beowulf, and not try to start our own clan. So I guess what I’m saying, for what its worth, you’ve got my vote.

Deltrain,
Thank you Your support is much appreciated. I'm positive your advice and guidance along with the advice and guidance of other Beowulf members will be a phenominal plus and I know that I personally will seek you or the other members out if I have any questions, which chances are high that I will. :p I can't wait to see the next chapters of Beowulf unfold and I hope that I am a part of it. The History of Beowulf would be an awesome addition and definately something I am interested in reading and learning about. As I said before; What I know about Beowulf comes from a brief distant memory and what my dad has told me. I know this clan has gone on for much longer than that however, so a complete history would benefit a great deal to not only Beowulf members, but myself and the WolfPack members that will hopefully soon become members of this legendary clan.
Also, I am an avid writer, so if you get the history in an outline-like manner, I would be up for typing it up into a book-like sort of thing.

We usually play on my dad's server because my router is refusing to function correctly (bad router -.-)... I'll see if we are going to play sometime tonight, I know a friend of mine wants to because he wants some stress relief.. I'll email his I.P. Address to you at some point tonight before we play
Hope to see you in the arena soon
Also, we typically use the Alliance mod, so make sure you have that.

Why hello there Silverwolf, Delt, Chip, Stoln, and everyone else!
While I haven't been active in a few years now, what Beowulf stands for remains very important to me. I would love to see some new motivated members revitalize the clan, and I fully support you and your WolfPack's membership.
Some years ago, Delt, Buddy J and I started Masked, a wulf pack dedicated to Counter-Strike. That made our participation in BW so much more enriching (after all, you get out what you put in), introduced some other cool folks to the clan, and it was a hella good time.
I also hope that DarkOne and our other elders can write up our history before it's forgotten. The most amazing thing to me is that Dread saw the potential of gaming to be a source of therapy and balance in life, which is pretty much the opposite of how it's portrayed in the media. It's an amazing legacy that you all are taking up, and I wish you all the very best. If there's anything we can do to help, just let us know.
In the meantime, I think I've gotten the itch for some Quake 3. Now where did I put my CD key?
