| EA shutting down game servers prematurely |
|

One of the problems of having dedicated servers run by the game maker is they determine when the server should be shut down. Take a moment and think where Clan Beowulf would be without its Quake 2, Quake 3 and Battlefield servers. In EA's defense, their game servers have always been available and well managed. Apparently the cost of running quality servers is having an impact. It's expected servers will be shut down at some time but read on for the shocking list of recent titles that will be shut down. On another note, why wouldn't you just scale down the number of servers to accommodate demand or lack thereof?

Popular World of Warcraft database site Wowhead has unveiled what it's claiming to be an official (and rather gigantic) Blizzard ad that reveals the official Wrath of the Lich King release date: Thursday, November 13. To celebrate, Wowhead is raffling off 10 beta keys. Though we know the expansion is due in Q4 2008,

While no official release date has been announced yet for Diablo 3, there has been much speculation to a potential “ball park” figure on the launch date for the much anticipated title. Needless to say, it’s going to be a big year with as many releases as blizzard has planned for the near future.
A recent leak from Blizzard’s parent company, Vivendi revealed that the newest World of Warcraft expansion is due sometime in the fall of 2008. In addition, Starcraft II is also due out around Christmas.

I'll try to get some exclusive Clan Beowulf shots of the store for you guys. NorthPark mall is only 1.5 miles from our store.DALLAS — The first Dell Inc. store opens Tuesday in an upscale Dallas mall, but company officials insist they're not abandoning the computer maker's strategy of selling directly to customers over the phone and the Internet.

I was just over at Coloring Dragons. A couple of days ago I updated their PHPNuke and since thing Hercules29 has been goin nuts adding cool stuff. I have to admit I stole his idea of the Shout Box from that site. One of the coolest things he has over there is the streaming radio. Hmmm might have to put something like that over at Clan Beowulf. So go check out theirs and vote in the Read More poll whether we should get it here.

| G4 and TechTV to become G4techTV |

This marks the first time I've ever used my cable box as a news source. The new channel G4techTV will become one channel on Tuesday July 20th. It now will be seen as part of our Digital Classic service. Since I view cable TV as the 4th Reich, I subscribe to the minimal package that gives me digital History and History International/Military. So "Digital Classic" will be on my dial.

Old.., I mean "mature" women over 40 seem to get hooked on online gaming more than men of the same age. At least that's what AOL Game/Online Marketing Reaseach says in this Fox News article:“One girl was just so addicted that she didn’t want to leave the computer long enough to give birth. She was having labor pains,” Fredericks remembered. “I said, ‘Don’t you think you should call a doctor?’ She said, ‘I just have to finish this session.’ Thirty hours later she was back and had a little boy.” Maybe it's time to seek help.
